Can you have a system if you are on a well pump?
YES! Hydrotek will do a full water pressure and gallons per minute test, as well as research on all info about your well and pump to ensure you have enough water to run the system as well as protecting the well from running out of water and leaving you with out. We also design our systems to try and eliminate as much start/stopping of the well pump and this causes the most stress on a well pump motor. Water quality will also be checked at this point, some well systems may require a separate filter to protect the irrigation system.
Do I have to turn off the system every time it rains?
NO, with the combination of the wifi controller and a wireless rain sensor not only will your system predict the incoming rain so it will not run during the rain, but it will also sense the amount of rain that does fall and stay off until the sensor has dried out and activated the system to come on. This is all automatic and the homeowner will not have to worry about the rain and wasting water and money!
Is there anything as the homeowner I need to do before the system is installed?
YES, Hydrotek Irrigation follows all laws put forth by state and national code, BY LAW the homeowner is required to call or contact DIG SAFE and schedule an appointment to have them come out and mark ALL underground utilities that maybe in the working are. This is a FREE service provided by DIG SAFE and they will need at least 72 hours notice. *** Hydrotek Irrigation will not commence any digging until all utilities have been marked!
Will this cause damage to my existing yard?
As with any construction work, when digging underground there could be some slight damage, however most of the lines you will see in the yard heal quickly and we do our best with equipment and by hand to make it look like we weren’t ever there. At worst, some slight over seeding of some areas may be required after the job is done.
How deep do the heads/ pipes go into the ground?
We do not guarantee a depth here in the “granite state”, however we aim to get the pipe 8-10" deep and guarantee you will not see any exposed piping unless there is no choice AND authorized by the homeowner.
Will I damage the heads driving over them with my lawnmower?
As long as they are properly installed at the right grade (flush to ground level) and not actively producing a spray, or ON, they will not be damaged by push or riding lawnmowers.
Will the system freeze in the winter?
Yes, if the homeowner does not take the proper precautions. To ensure your system remains protected and in top condition throughout the colder months, schedule a fall winterization service with us today! Don't let freezing temperatures wreak havoc on your irrigation system.
